*The book "Gone with the Wind"* was written by Margaret Mitchell over a 10- year period while she and her husband lived at what was known as the Crescent Apartments on Peachtree St. in Atlanta. This building was destroyed by fire twice, and after renovation, now houses the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum. The book was published by Macmillan Publishing in 1936.	During the premier of the movie in Atlanta, all the Hollywood guests stayed at the Georgian Terrace Hotel. Unfortunately, because of her race, Hattie McDaniel was not allowed to attend. Therefore she had the class to notify planners that she was "unavailable". Clark Gable attended with Carol Lombard along with Olivia De Havilland. The film won a record 10 Oscars that year.	Margaret Mitchell's Pulitzer Prize, Remington typewriter and her Red Cross cap are displayed at the Atlanta Fulton County Library which was designed by her father. The movie opened in Atlanta at Loew's Grand Theater on December 15, 1939 and was broadcast for the first time on NBC on November 8, 1976 to the largest TV audience at that time.	Upon her untimely death after being involved in an accident with an off duty taxi driver, Margaret Mitchell was laid to rest in Atlanta's Oakland Cemetery. We have placed the names of those other legends of the movie along side her. The cemetery is placed next to the representation of Tara which was original called "Fontenoy Hall".
